Wow what a wknd of Flashback Photobooth deliveries here in South East Queensland! Aside from the usual weekend of birthday parties, weddings and corporate events we had an adventure getting to O'Reillys Rainforest Retreat on Saturday.
The retreat is nestled in the Lamington National Park in the Gold Coast Hinterland. A good 2hrs drive on the best of days from Brisbane in a car that isnt towing a 2 tonne trailer! Well to help make the trip longer we had a tyre burst on us as we were going 90km down the pacific highway and were lucky to have just made it to the hard shoulder still in control of the car and trailer! Being the side of the highway and very little room on the hard shoulder we called the RACQ who kindly came quickly and towed us to a quiet street so the tyre could be changed in safety. 1.5hr later and we were back on our way! I had left a 2hr buffer so we were still well on track to get there before the reception started (at 5pm) and well before the hire was due to start (6pm). As we passed through the quaint village of Canungra the rain started and it was soon teeming down! The last 30km stretch from Canungra to O'Reillys is one lane in many parts and so windy that we often couldnt manage more than 15km/hr esp with the rain. With the weather and roads against us we travelled on and after another 1hr were finally there and 30mins before the reception offiicially started!
PHEW!!!!
To date we have never turned up after a reception has started regardless of when the booth is set to turn on but this was much too close for comfort. Good thing for the buffer and we know now that the next time we go out to OReillys we're going to leave 3hrs buffer and pray not to get a flat tyre!
